Connect a Cable Box, Console, or Soundbar to Your VIZIO TV

Connect cable and satellite boxes, game consoles, streaming sticks, antennas, and soundbars to a VIZIO TV using HDMI, HDMI ARC/eARC, or optical audio.

Most devices connect to your VIZIO TV with an HDMI cable. Plug the device into an open HDMI port, then press Input on the remote and select that port.

Connect an HDMI device

1. Plug in the cable

   Connect an HDMI cable from the device (cable box, console, Blu-ray player, streaming stick) to an HDMI port on the TV.

2. Power on the device

   Turn on the device so the TV can detect it.

3. Select the input

   Press Input on the remote and choose the matching HDMI port.

For 4K HDR or high-refresh gaming, use a high-speed HDMI cable and check your TV’s manual for which HDMI port supports the full feature set.

Connect a soundbar

HDMI ARC or eARC (recommended)

Connect the soundbar to the TV port labeled ARC or eARC. Turn on CEC in the TV menu (often under System > CEC) so the TV remote controls soundbar volume.

Optical audio

Connect an optical cable from the TV’s Digital Audio Out port to the soundbar. Set the TV speakers to off in the Audio menu if you hear echo.

Connect an antenna

Plug the antenna into the Coax / Antenna port. Then open Menu > Channels and run a channel scan to find local broadcast stations.
